2025 Hog Share- Half and Quarter Hogs

from $50.00

We raise happy, healthy hogs! These hogs arrived at our farm in May and will be processed in November 2025. They will be processed at Innovative Foods, in Evans, Colorado to your specifications.

Our pigs are raised on pasture here in Idledale, they enjoy organic produce from Natural Grocer and bagels from The Bagelry in Evergreen in addition to their fantastic feed from our friends in southern Colorado.

We are charging $5.50/lb hanging weight for half and quarter hogs. This does not include processing, which is usually around $200-$300 for a half depending on the size of the hog and the chosen cuts.

Your deposit ($100 for Half Hog, $50 for Quarter Hog) will reserve the animal, and will be subtracted from the total charge ($5.50/lb hanging weight + processing fees) when the meat is delivered. We will drop off the animals and pick up the meat, and deliver vacuum packed, labeled, and frozen pork right to your door.

Most half hogs will have a hanging weight of 90-110 lbs, yielding 60-80 lbs of packaged meat. We expect quarter hogs to have a hanging weight of 45-55 lbs, with 30-40 lbs of packaged meat (See note of weights below)

This meat is custom processed, so you get to choose your cuts. Here is an example of what you might expect to get in a Half Hog order (Quarter Hog is about half of this!):

-14-18 lbs of ham cuts

-8-10 lbs bacon

-18-22 lbs loin cuts (chops or roasts)

-8-12 lbs shoulder cuts (steaks or roasts)

-4-5 lbs of hocks and organ meats

-3-5 lbs of sausage

A note on weights (find more details here):

Live weight: The weight of the animal when it’s alive (on the hoof!)

Hanging weight: The weight the butcher gives us after the animal has been killed, with some (inedible) parts removed. The hanging weight is about 60% of the live weight.

Packaged weight: How much you, the customer, take home after the meat has been packaged. This is usually 60%-65% of the hanging weight.
